Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our innovation team at von Holzhausen. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is excited to gain hands-on experience developing next-generation, 100% plant-based materials.
In this role, you’ll support day-to-day lab activities, assist with material formulation and testing, and help keep the lab running smoothly. You’ll work closely with experienced scientists and engineers in an industrial lab environment and learn how new materials are developed, tested, and scaled.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the research team in developing plant-based materials that match or exceed the performance of petroleum-based alternatives
- Assist with formulation, synthesis, and testing of plant-based polymers at lab and pilot scale
- Help prepare materials, run experiments, and document results clearly and accurately
- Support batch scale-up activities and assist Manufacturing and Quality teams as needed
- Follow all laboratory safety and EHS guidelines and help maintain a clean, organized lab
- Learn to operate lab and processing equipment
- Communicate progress, observations, and issues clearly with the team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field
- Basic understanding of materials, polymers, or plastics
- Some hands-on lab experience (academic, internship, or early professional experience)
- Interest in manufacturing, scale-up, and applied materials development
- Familiarity with laboratory safety practices
