What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern: Vehicle Electrical Systems Design - Soil (Fall 2024) position at Volvo Group?
Work alongside our Senior Electrical Engineers and in cooperation with a multi-disciplined engineering team to develop electrical solutions for our fleet of Soil Compactors. Our team is responsible for the end-to-end process (conceptual design, prototype, virtual and physical verification, and product launch).
As a team of 7 engineers and 1 intern and with responsibility for over 6000 parts per vehicle, every day is different and the opportunities to learn new things are endless. We are currently working on a series of projects to investigate, develop, and launch electric vehicles while also starting to lay the groundwork for semi-autonomous machines.
You will work directly in the team as if you were a full-time engineer and have the ability to sign up for work that is interesting to you. We work in an agile product development process called scrum where we plan and execute our work in 3-week intervals called sprints.
Housing is provided for students from outside our local area. We provide opportunities for mentorships with some of our top business leaders as well as job shadowing experiences with other teams at Volvo. This primarily and in-person position based out of our office space in our proto building but we are open to some flexible working hours and locations as well. We set our schedule each sprint based on the specific project tasks we have planned for that 3-week interval.
