Position Summary
The Development Director is responsible for planning, managing, and executing the organization’s overall fundraising strategy. This role leads the development team, strengthens donor relationships, expands funding sources, and ensures the organization has the financial resources needed to achieve its mission. The Development Director collaborates closely with senior leadership and the Board of Directors to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Fundraising & Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan.
- Set short- and long-term fundraising goals, metrics, and projections.
- Identify new funding opportunities, including major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and community giving.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors.
- Manage a portfolio of major donors and cultivate new prospects.
- Oversee donor stewardship, acknowledgment processes, and engagement strategies.
Grant Management
- Research grant opportunities and oversee the grant application process.
- Coordinate with program teams to gather data and craft compelling proposals.
- Ensure timely reporting and compliance with grant requirements.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and support development staff, volunteers, and consultants.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board on fundraising initiatives.
- Provide training and tools to staff and board members to improve fundraising effectiveness.
Campaigns, Events & Communications
- Plan and oversee fundraising events and campaigns (annual appeals, capital campaigns, annual campaigns, digital campaigns).
- Work closely with communications/marketing teams to craft messaging that strengthens donor engagement.
- Manage fundraising content for newsletters, social media, and donor reports.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Prepare and manage the development budget.
- Track fundraising progress and provide regular reports to leadership and the Board.
- Ensure accurate donor information and reporting within the CRM/database.
PREREQUISITE
· Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or CFRE certification preferred.
· 5–10 years of experience in fundraising, development, or related roles.
· Proven track record in major gifts, grants, and campaign management.
· Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
· Experience managing teams and working with senior leadership and boards.
· Proficiency with fundraising CRM systems and data-driven decision-making.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
