Job Description
POSITION GOAL:
To provide professional instruction using effective intervention strategies with both small groups of students and individual students in the areas of academic curriculum. Particular emphasis on enhancing learning opportunities for students through “best practices” in the areas of data disaggregation, student need identification and implementation of prescriptive academic interventions.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. *Implement district-identified initiatives and in reading, mathematics and language arts using the Volusia County Curriculum Guides, supplemental materials and district-adopted textbooks.
2. *Work directly with appropriate grade level students on academic intervention instruction and assessment to meet the needs of educationally disadvantaged students.
3. *Work with targeted students in small groups to motivate and promote mastery level success for students with identified academic deficiencies.
4. *Match instruction and materials to individual learner needs.
5. *Support the effective use of small group intervention strategies.
6. *Collaborate with the School Leadership Team to ensure that special efforts are consistent with the goals of the School Improvement Plan.
7. *Use excellent planning and organizational skills to handle paperwork and recordkeeping tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
8. *Prepare and maintain accurate reports and all related forms and submit to supervisory personnel as required.
9. *Participate in district in-service opportunities related to FCAT and academic instruction for educationally disadvantaged children to continually update knowledge base.
10. *Support and implement research-based strategies based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) legislation to meet the particular needs of the students.
11. *Provide lessons in reading, mathematics, science and language arts that include “best practices” and address the academic needs of tier 2 and tier 3 students and other struggling students identified by data.
12. *Use appropriate verbal and communication skills with teachers and administrators to increase trust, collegiality, professional dialog and team building.
13. *Work as part of a team by establishing and maintaining working relationships that foster efficiency and productivity and promote cooperation with administrators, fellow employees, students, faculty and the public.
14. *Actively participate in all aspects the Problem Solving Team Process and attend (PST) meetings for students in need of tier 2 or tier 3 interventions.
15. *Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

- Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree in related field preferred
- Hold or eligible to hold a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate in Elementary Education or related field
- Current training and experience in the teaching techniques for elementary students
- Ability to implement identified “best practices” in core curriculum areas as part of Tier 2 and Tier 3 student interventions
- Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience preferred
- Evidence of participation or leadership in the area of staff development
- Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required

Base Salary: $50,000 - $51,500
