Job Description
POSITION GOAL
To oversee the processing and balancing of all payroll related payments, deductions and or contributions; and assist with all payroll functions of Volusia County Schools
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. *Coordinate payroll processes to ensure the timely and accurate payment of salaries for all employees
2. *Create, run and maintain system jobs and edits for record updates and payment postings
3. *Coordinate with banking agencies for proper processing of employee payroll files
4. *Create, verify and make necessary adjustments on state and federal regulatory reports.
5. *Assist in the training and directing of payroll staff
6. *Act as point of contact and maintain security for payroll end users.
7. *Assist in the development of payroll technical procedures and make recommendations for improving services.
8. *Supervise the preparation of periodic statements and reports; check reports for accuracy and appropriate posting to job records.
9. *Initiate and maintain payroll records in accordance with federal and state regulations.
10. *Communicate and confirm responsibilities of external agencies as they relate to VCS payroll processing.
11. *Verify and reconcile financial reporting to BENCOR Financial Services, Internal Revenue Service, other outside agencies, and internal departments, as required.
12. *Provide information and interpretation of payroll procedures as requested, verbally and in writing.
13. *Manage all necessary processing for the payroll department in the absence of the Director, Payroll.
14. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director, Payroll.

Required Qualifications/Certifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS
REPORTS TO Director, Payroll
SUPERVISES Support staff as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, payroll or related field or four (4) years experience in payroll or a related field
- Four (4) years professional experience in payroll processing with accounting responsibilities, compensation and benefits reporting
- Experience using computer systems in a payroll environment
- Experience in supervision of personnel

- Strong mathematical ability
- Ability to learn federal, state and agency rules relating to payroll
- Ability to file and maintain an accurate file system and record keeping
