Job Description
POSITION GOAL
To provide technical services that create a safe environment for all students and employees of Volusia County Schools
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. *Work hours and locations will change as the need arises. Perform all duties according to scheduled hours and locations as assigned.
2. *Assure the safety of children comes first.
3. *Abide by all security procedures,
4. *Represent Volusia County School Board (VCSB) and the Department with a positive and professional service oriented demeanor.
5. *Review sites and create job estimates.
6. *Work as part of a team by establishing and maintaining working relationships that foster efficiency, productivity, quality results, and promotes cooperation with administrators, fellow employees, students, faculty and the public.
7. *Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain television, intercom, security and network systems.
8. *Install television, intercom, data, security, and fiber optic wiring.
9. *Replace components for intercom, television, security, and network systems.
10. *Maintain accurate truck inventory and all related lists/ forms for each job as needed for maintenance operations.
11. *Assist in the assessment, planning and implementation of preventive maintenance procedures.
12. *Communicate verbally and in writing as assigned.
13. *Check and maintain assigned equipment on a daily basis.
14. *Report any damage/dangerous or hazardous situations related to work orders, equipment or vehicles to supervisor.
15. *Maintain a clean orderly work environment, which includes the service truck and all equipment.
16. *Wear provided designated departmental uniform.
17. *Perform various duties from a ladder, high lift, bucket truck or scaffold.
18. *Abide by safety rules/ standards when using tools and equipment, which includes wearing required safety equipment and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements.
19. *Attend and/ or conduct cross-training sessions with others in the Division and apply skills/ knowledge obtained.
20. *Respond during times of disaster/ emergency, as the need arises, including evenings and weekends.
21. *Perform effectively in emergency situations.
22. *Operate school board vehicles, when assigned, in accordance with operational procedures and School Board Policy 505.
23. *Provide personal tools as required, to perform assigned work.
24. *Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisors, Multi-Trades

Required Qualifications/Certifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS
REPORTS TO Supervisors, Multi-Trades
SUPERVISES Not Applicable
- High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years experience in one or a combination of three (3) years experience in the following areas of communications: Intercom; Networking; Cable Television (CATV); Security Systems
- Must be able to pass written and demonstration tests, upon request
- Must be available after working hours (on-call) as a part of the emergency and disaster team
- Must be available for scheduled shift work
- Must be able to attend and complete various on-the-job training sessions
- Provide personal hand tools in accordance with established department list
- Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required
- Must be able to operate school board vehicles, when assigned, in accordance with operational procedures and School Board Policy 505
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to interpret and understand blueprints, schematics, and written diagrams for use in troubleshooting and renovations
- Knowledge of current technology, systems, and applications as it pertains to the related field
- Ability to fulfill all work requirements competently
- Ability to determine the materials, tools and time needed to complete an assignment

- Ability to work productively with little or no supervision
