SITE ASSISTANT, BEFORE THE BELL PROGRAM
(EXTENDED DAY CARE ENRICHMENT PROGRAM-MIDDLE SCHOOL)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Hold a High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent Experience in working effectively with and managing organized activities for children (volunteer or paid) Holds current certification or will successfully complete the following course during the first year of employment: First
Aid/CPR Successful completion of the substitute teacher training course (STAR) within one (1) year of
date of hire is preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to implement program goals and strategies
Willingness to help a child through the trials and errors of normal growth and development
Ability to manage creative enrichment programs for students in grades 6-8
Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form
Effective customer relations skills
Ability to function as a member of a leadership team
Ability to exercise good judgment regarding sensitive and confidential personnel and student matters
A basic knowledge of VCS’ discipline policy

BEFORE THE BELL [BTB] Program
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain a thorough knowledge of all phases of the program and job.
2. Successfully complete appropriate tasks and follow procedures and policies.
3. Establish and maintain good judgment in support of the program.
4. Remain in the program area during assigned hours unless specifically assigned duty elsewhere.
5. Establish and maintain positive communication with students, parents, school staff and Site Lead.
6. Become familiar with the program site and follow the directions for all emergency procedures: fire drills, severe weather drill,
emergency evacuation procedures and others as needed.
7. Successfully complete in-service and staff development sessions as required (CPR, GSM, etc. . . .).
8. Attend and participate in required periodic staff meetings and/or workshops
9. Ensure proper supervision at all times.
10. Maintain work area in a neat, clean manner conducive to constructive play appropriate to the age group.
11. Coordinate activities with volunteers working with his/her group of children.
12. Effectively carry out assigned group activities.
13. Establish and maintain promptness and attendance.
14. Notify the Site Lead and/or Principal/Administrator in a timely manner of the need to be absent. This notification may be required in
15. Ensure the equipment and materials are arranged, available, and maintained in good condition.
16. Encourage parental involvement.
17. Perform general housekeeping duties for the program as assigned.
18. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Site Lead.
