Pay: $56000 - $63000 DOE

Schedule: Full Time, Exempt

Position Summary

Provide daily program oversight, including supervision of the three shift coordinators; management of non-clinical staff; management of facilities; program services and implementation; coordination with onsite and community partners; and provide a safe and positive environment for clients and staff in accordance with licensing, agency, and contract standards.

Essential Duties

  • Oversee all day-to-day frontline shelter operations to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for shelter clients.
  • Ensure compliance with shift staffing requirements by confirming the correct number of employees is scheduled and present for each shift, in accordance with the approved schedule
  • Oversee the training and implementation of evidence-based/best practices such as motivational interviewing, housing-focused practices, trauma-informed practices and procedures, etc.
  • Oversee the onboarding, hiring, and shift scheduling of Housing Advocates, and assist coordinators with ongoing staff training, including Relias trainings and all DHHS required trainings.
  • Assist the Director with community partner collaboration and attend weekly meetings with various onsite partners to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Provide regularly scheduled supervision, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes with direct/indirect reports.
  • Assist the Director in all aspects of program operations.
  • Complete payroll, status change forms, and pay-related functions in a timely manner.
  • Attend work on-site as scheduled and arrive at the designated time.

Secondary Duties

  • Participate in management back-up phone schedule.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with VOA program and agency partners, community entities, client family members, agency donors and emergency response services.
  • Contribute to Volunteers of America, Utah management activities including management meetings, leadership activities and agency initiatives.
  • Participate in audits, site visits, and provide oversight that all client files and related paperwork are maintained in accordance with licensing and contract requirements and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and/or participate in crisis intervention services, including medical, family and psychiatric emergencies.
  • Provide oversight that all client files and related paperwork are maintained in accordance with licensing and contract requirements.
  • Ensure that all paperwork related to program activities is properly completed, managed confidentially and stored in appropriate locations.
  • Utilize appropriate licensing, agency and contract requirements to guide daily program operations and program development.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.

Preferred Skills

High school diploma or equivalent preferred and (2 years of social services or homelessness-related experience) or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Direct experience with homeless clients.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license, and have a good driving record.
  • 2 years of supervisory and administrative experience in a social service setting.
  • Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorder treatment best practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Motivational Interviewing techniques, Stages of Change models, Trauma Informed Care principles and how to operationalize them within an emergency shelter for women.
  • Ability to uphold professional boundaries, agency policies and procedures, and interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to interact with clients and staff by demonstrating genuine empathy, concern and understanding of their experience while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to move around the building and property.
  • Willingness to accept supervision and direction.
  • Become CPR and First Aid Certified.
  • If driving is a part of the job, must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license, have a good driving record, and be insurable on the agency liability policy.
  • Must be able to pass Utah-DHS – Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to walk up and downstairs.
  • Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods.
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment. May entail using a computer for extended periods of time.

Salary : $56,000 - $63,000
