This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the most impactful faith-based nonprofits in Texas—serving more than 18,000 people annually with a $47 million budget and a dedicated team of 400 staff members.
VOA Texas is one of 33 affiliates of Volunteers of America, a national organization employing 16,000 staff and serving 1.5 million people annually. Our Texas footprint spans 30 urban and rural communities, including Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.
Programs include:
- Affordable housing for seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities
- Residential re-entry programs
- Workforce development and training
- Substance use treatment
- Behavioral and mental health services
The CEO will oversee all operational, programmatic, and external affairs activities—ensuring effective delivery of services, financial stability, brand strengthening, and integration of VOA’s faith-based principles. This role demands a bold, visionary leader capable of driving innovation while remaining mission focused.
The next CEO of VOA Texas will have the platform, resources, and team to position the organization as a statewide leader in community development, human services, and housing—creating lasting impact for Texas’ most vulnerable populations.
Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for operational, programmatic, and external affairs activities.
- Oversee effective delivery of programs and services that address the needs of vulnerable populations.
- Ensure all decisions align with VOA Texas’ faith-based mission and values.
- Resource Development
- Diversify revenue streams and secure long-term financial sustainability.
- Build strong relationships with donors, foundations, corporate partners, and community stakeholders.
- Lead fundraising initiatives and cultivate philanthropic support.
Workforce & Organizational Culture
- Inspire, lead, and develop a team of 400 staff across the state.
- Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and mission-driven performance.
- Ensure staff development aligns with organizational growth and service delivery priorities.
Partnerships & Advocacy
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for VOA Texas with government, media, and community leaders.
- Build coalitions to expand VOA’s impact in housing, health, and human services.
- Advocate for policies and initiatives that strengthen community development.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Services, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10 years of progressive executive leadership experience in nonprofit or social services organizations.
- Proven success managing complex, multi-disciplinary organizations.
- Strong financial acumen and fundraising experience.
- Demonstrated alignment with faith-based mission and values.
