Volunteers of America Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho (VOA) is hiring Medical Respite Support Staff for our Hope House program. This unique program provides short-term care for individuals experiencing homelessness after a hospital stay.
Shifts Available
- Full-time overnight shifts (eligible for shift differential pay)
- Daytime shifts (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
- Weekend availability strongly preferred
- Flexible scheduling with opportunities for extra hours
What You’ll Do
- Provide care and monitoring for individuals recovering from illness or crisis
- Foster a safe, respectful, trauma-informed healing environment
- Support program intakes, orientation, and referrals
- Respond to behavioral and medical needs with empathy and professionalism
- Maintain communication logs and documentation during your shift
Who This Role is Great For
People who have worked in roles such as:
- Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) or Home Health Aides
- Shelter or Residential Support Staff
- Behavioral Health Technicians or Peer Support Specialists
- Medical Assistants or Hospital Patient Sitters
- Social Services, Case Aides, or Direct Care Workers
- Security or Crisis Intervention Staff
- Or anyone with lived experience and a heart for supporting vulnerable communities
Requirements
Requirements
- Eligible to apply for Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) credential within 30 days of hire
- Willingness to obtain (VOA supported): BLS/CPR, First Aid, Food Handler’s Permit
- Strong communication, compassion, and calm presence
- Ability to work independently, especially overnight
- Must be at least 21 years old and able to pass a background check
- Preferred: Experience in homeless services, behavioral health, trauma-informed care, or peer support.
