Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking a reliable Janitor to support cleanliness, sanitation, and facility presentation at our Burlington County Shelter. Reporting to the Social Worker, this hands-on role helps maintain a safe, healthy environment for clients and staff through daily cleaning, restroom sanitation, trash handling, and basic supply/stock awareness.

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking a reliable Janitor to support cleanliness, sanitation, and facility presentation at our Burlington County Shelter. Reporting to the Social Worker, this hands-on role helps maintain a safe, healthy environment for clients and staff through daily cleaning, restroom sanitation, trash handling, and basic supply/stock awareness.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain daily cleanliness and sanitation of the building interior and ensure exterior areas remain presentable
- Empty trash cans daily and ensure trash is properly discarded so the dumpster area stays sanitary and orderly
- Sanitize trash cans and change liners weekly (or as needed)
- Clean, deodorize, and sanitize bathrooms; ensure bathrooms are appropriately stocked daily
- Sweep, mop, dust mop floors, and vacuum daily; strip/buff/finish floors as needed; shampoo rugs as needed
- Clean windows and doors as needed
- Report maintenance issues and supply needs to the appropriate supervisor
- Keep walkways clear of snow and debris; keep stairs and doorways free of obstructions
- Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and supervisory conferences
- Maintain confidentiality and follow administrative policies and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned
- High school diploma/equivalent or GED
- Minimum 2 years of janitorial/housekeeping experience
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to handle Protected Health Information and comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
