Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) is committed to enriching the lives of lonely and isolated older adults in San Francisco. Virtually all of our services are carried out by individual volunteers; community, civic, and religious groups; and the business community. LBFE offers flexible and diverse volunteer opportunities, and volunteers can choose to make weekly, monthly, or seasonal time commitments.

LBFE’s Visiting Volunteer Program is one of our most impactful and rewarding opportunities-and we’re especially looking for Cantonese and Mandarin-speaking volunteers to be matched 1 1 with older adults in our Chinese-speaking community who are experiencing loneliness and isolation.
As a Visiting Volunteer, you’ll build a real and lasting friendship through regular in-person visits. For many older adults, these visits are the highlight of their week and a vital source of connection, comfort, and joy.
