What are the responsibilities and job description for the RECORDS/DATA SPECIALIST position at VOLUNTEER BEHAVIORAL HEALTH?
Immediate full time position for Records/Data Specialist at our McMinnville Campus.
- Daily perform termination of client records (i.e.: accepting discharge summary and changing status to terminate.) Also rejects discharge summaries with addendum when verified as needed.
- Perform destruction or purges of all documents after clearance from preparation/scanning clerks.
- Assist with preparation of audits with external agencies
- Assist with training as instructed by the Medical Records Administrator
- Assist with running and processing the PCP Communication Report each morning.
- Assists clients/lawyers/insurance companies/etc. with passwords and issues.
- Will work daily request for information and releases for VBHCS clients.
- Examine documents / authorizations for validity and appropriateness.
- Retrieves information from client record and assemble it for release.
- Maintains records of all requests/releases of information documents and dates and the method of document transmittals.
- Maintains up to date working knowledge of VBHCS Policies & Procedures relating to medical records and their releases; HIPAA regulations, client confidentiality, and VBHCS Quality Improvement Program Plan.
- Conduct Quantitative Review of medical records and provide reports to the Medical Administrator.
- Assist with filing and sorting of incoming faxes and scans from centers
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
Thorough knowledge of business English, modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; as evidenced by a rating of education and experience.
Experience and comfortable working knowledge of computers and Windows-based software programs and Adobe.
Experience in electronic health records storage preferred (i.e., scanning, filing, etc.).
Thorough understanding of VBHCS policies and practices relating to medical records.
