What are the responsibilities and job description for the Criminal Justice Liaison position at Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System?
Volunteer Behavioral Health - Columbia Tn campus has a full time Criminal Justice Liaison position open. Position will cover Hickman, Perry, and Lewis Counties.
Must live in or close to covered areas.
Pay Range: $45K-$47K
EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with local criminal justice system to assist inmates with various aspects of mental health treatment and re-entry planning as well as those at risk for incarceration. Conduct mental health and substance use assessments, determine diagnosis and level of care needed for treatment. Based on level of need, provide recommendations to the judicial system. Complete referrals for treatment, referrals to community resources, work with inmate on release planning, and provide coordination of care. Work closely with treatment team to ensure coordination of services upon release. Will act as an advocate for the inmate.
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Knowledge of mental illness, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. Prefer experience diagnosing mental illness and substance use disorders. Prefer experience working with adults in the criminal justice system, understanding of specific cultural issues and the region. Ability to interact with community members, participate as a team with judicial system and local jails.
EDUCATIONAL/ EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or related field License preferred, or must at least be license eligible. A Bachelor’s degree with related experience will be considered.
