Volunteer Behavioral Health is now seeking Certified Peer Recovery Specialist for the Murfreesboro, Tn area.
Starting Pay: $18.00-18.75PH
Schedule: (M-F-3p-11p) (PRN-Sat-Sun-7p-7a)
DESCRIPTION:
The 24/7 Integrated Treatment Team Certified Peer Recovery Specialists (CPRS) are responsible for providing client engagement and support and for communicating with and accessing the professional staff in a structured, supportive 24/7 treatment environment. This position ensures that support is offered based on the stage of recovery a person is in at the time, that services are offered in a positive atmosphere and people are encouraged to believe that recovery is possible.
Qualifications:
Experience working in the community setting with adults who have alcohol and drug treatment issues or co-occurring mental health problems preferred. Can provide documentation of currently active CPRS certification or agrees to complete certification within one year of hire date.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact with guests, visitors, family members and outside providers in a professional and welcoming manner always acknowledging their presence.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible and cohesive relationship with clients, co-workers, and the public while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Never share personal information, social media information, or anything that may allow a client to identify you or any staff member. Report all attempts to obtain such information to your supervisor and include it in the end of shift report.
- Immediately report any change noted in client behavior or physical condition to the charge nurse.
- Employ de-escalation techniques mediating potential crisis between clients when necessary and if safe to do so. Immediately report to charge nurse.
- Follow the VBHCS in house crisis response plan in case of emergency psychiatric emergency (i.e. suicidal/homicidal ideation or threats) with the direction of supervisor.
- Attend meetings and trainings in-house, electronic, virtual, etc. as directed by supervisor.
- Provide shift reports via email including completed checklists to supervisor at the end of each shift. Assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery using one-to-one and group sessions. During these sessions the CPRS will support clients in identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports and resources to aid them in achieving those goals. Groups will be psychoeducational focused on addiction and recovery topics including relapse prevention and triggers utilizing a co-occurring disorders focus.
- Be available to clients for immediate concerns or needs and direct to appropriate staff.
- Provide shift reports via email to leadership at the end of each shift as instructed by supervisor.
- Provides follow-up phone contact for clients upon discharge to ensure discharge plan is working and to assist client in developing alternatives if necessary.
- Cross-trains as a client assistant (CA) to be able to assist in CA tasks if needed.
- Complete incident reports when incidents occur.
- Remain engaged and available during shift.
- Attend meetings and trainings as assigned by supervisor.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a basic understanding of the disease concept of addiction and co-occurring disorders, the recovery process and family dynamics; will possess an understanding of individual, group, and family dynamics.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED required. Associate degree or some college preferred
- Peer Recovery Specialist certification through TDMHSAS or must be working toward CPRS and obtain phase 1 certification within first year of employment
- 1-year minimum experience working with target population preferred
- Flexibility to work any shift preferred
- Acceptable criminal background investigation
- Possess proficient computer skills Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Valid Tennessee Driver’s License with F Endorsement, good driving record
- Personal Automobile Insurance
- CPR certified or willingness to obtain certification as provided by VBHCS
