Voluntary Action Center is seeking a Part-Time Meals on Wheels Driver to join our team serving the Peru, IL area. This position is scheduled to work Mon, Wed and Friday 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. a week.
As a Meals on Wheels Driver, you’re more than a delivery driver you are the friendly face and daily check-in our clients rely on. Your work helps reduce isolation and ensures individuals receive the nutrition and care they deserve.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver meals to clients’ homes using a designated route
- Load and transport meals following established procedures
- Provide friendly, respectful interaction with every client
- Observe and report any concerns regarding client wellbeing
- Serve as a mandated reporter for suspected abuse or neglect
- Support kitchen or site operations as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Compassionate, dependable, and service-oriented individuals
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily route
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and physical exam
- Comfortable handling confidential information with discretion
