CDL Heavy Equipment Operator / Operations Manager (5+ Years Experience Required)

Job Summary

"This role requires 5 years of heavy equipment operation experience and an active CDL; candidates who do not meet both of these requirements will not be considered."
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator that can also serve as our operations manager to join our excavation/construction team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating various types of heavy machinery on construction sites, ensuring safe, efficient project completion and strong leader traits . This role requires mechanical aptitude, strong safety awareness, and the ability to operate multiple types of equipment including dozers, loaders, excavators, cranes, and trucks.

Duties

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, cranes, and trucks to perform construction tasks.
• Assist with site preparation, grading, excavation, and material handling to support construction projects.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on-site.
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate operations and meet project deadlines.
• Load and unload materials using appropriate machinery such as forklifts, loaders, skid steers and excavators.
• Operate specialized machinery like concrete mixers or farm machinery as needed for specific projects.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Rough carpentry (form carpentry) skills required to build concrete forms for bridge abutments and pier systems
• Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, cranes, and various trucks.
• Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required
• Familiarity with CAT equipment and other major brands is advantageous.
• Ability to work safely in a dynamic construction environment while adhering to OSHA standards.
• Strong communication and team leader skills
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting heavy loads and working in outdoor conditions for extended periods.
