We are currently searching for an experienced Bridge Project Engineer to support our Southwest Region located in Texas.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform/supervise calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs
- Perform/supervise load ratings on bridges of various type size and complexity
- Review calculations and design details developed by others
- Attend meeting with clients and other professionals and organizations
- Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
- Review construction related submittals
- Organize and maintain project files
- Supervising and mentoring Structural EITs and Interns
- Assist with marketing bridge and structure design work
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Master of Engineering preferred, but not required
- Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.)
- 6 to 9 years of engineering experience in bridge design
- TxDOT experience is strongly preferred
- Skilled in the use of OpenBridge Designer
- Technical expertise for the layout & design of bridges and related highway structures
- Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures
- Knowledge of AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications
- Familiarity of TxDOT bridge standards and design manuals is strongly preferred
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
- If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role
- Valid driver’s license
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
