Summary:
The R&D Intern will be assigned to the Sr. R&D Technician at our forming fabrics factory in Shreveport LA with product qualification of forming fabrics intended for the paper machine market, working with new technologies for the incremental development and improvement of our products, and assisting in developing intellectual properties.
The successful candidate must have an inquisitive and scientific thought process and show eagerness to learn and communicate openly with our R&D team is important for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Assist R&D Technician with pilots to qualify and modify existing products on different equipment.
- Assist R&D Technician with pilots to qualify new materials and patterns.
- Assist R&D Technician with technology transfer of new designs already developed from VPFF & VPFC.
- Assist R&D Technician with JDE data entry of all qualified products through pilot process.
- Assist R&D Technician with projects related to research and development.

- Proficient undergraduate level verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Must be willing and able to learn on-the-job tasks, plus supervisory skills where needed.
- Ability to prioritize allocated tasks (with support of supervisor) and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Willingness to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, MiniTab and must be willing to learn our in-house fabric specific software.
Education and Experience:
- Be on a course of study for Associates, Bachelor’s, or Master degree in one of the following disciplines: Textiles, Chemicals, Engineering (mechanical, electrical, automation, robotics, mechatronics), Process and/or Quality Engineering
Mobility Requirements:
- There will be a need to work in office, laboratory and factory floor locations, so a certain degree of mobility is needed.
- There may be need to visit clients paper making sites with our forming fabric application engineers and this will require a higher degree of mobility would be needed.
