Summary:
The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the sales organization, including preparing quotations.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain a general understanding of all Voith Fiber Systems products and processtechnology, working with existing Application Engineers.
* Determine customer needs, problems and requirements and deliver a solution (system or singlemachine) to fulfill/solve it.
* Define and size the required machines and systems according to the Voith EngineeringDirectives.
* Develop accurate, competitive and appropriate quotations in a timely manner and developaccurate and detailed cost estimates.
* Maintain a well-organized quotation file with accurate and current Sizing Sheets, Balances,Correspondences, Equipment Specifications.
* Assist Sales Team to help determine customer needs and promote Voith products andtechnology through email, phone calls, meetings, or site visits.
* Support (participate) in the start-up and optimization of systems sold as required to maintain athorough understanding of the process.
* If required, present at customer site or conferences.
* Work as a team with cross-departmental colleagues.
Qualifications:
* Enrolled in a qualified educational program for a BS degree in Pulp & Paper Science or ChemicalEngineering.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to talk technically with sales and engineering colleagues (local, national, international).
* Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, ability to learn other programs.
* Discretion in dealing with confidential data.
* Paper mill experience will be advantageous but not necessary.
* Self starter requiring little guidance from superiors.
