Tow Truck Driver - Santa Maria

Voigt Inc. DBA Smitty’s Towing is accepting applications for Tow Truck Drivers.

We are looking for full-time Tow Truck Drivers/Operators who are energetic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented. If you enjoy driving, assisting others by providing excellent customer service and are looking for a position with unlimited earning potential, this is the job for you!

We will train you! No previous direct towing experience is required. With a full fleet of vehicles, we are committed to furthering the career development opportunities for drivers who demonstrate a strong work ethic, think creatively, and manage time and projects efficiently and safely. We have been training and developing our employees to drive all kinds of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks for over 30 years! By joining Smitty's Towing, you will learn new skills and practices for providing a variety of customer solutions for roadside problems. A background in roadside assistance, or experience loading and unloading a flatbed truck, or tractor-trailer is a plus.

Requirements

To drive with us you:

• Must be 22 years of age, or older
• Must meet auto insurance requirements
• Must have a valid California Driver License
• Must pass a background check
• Must pass law enforcement Live Scan (fingerprint) background check - records obtained from the DOJ and the FBI
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and random drug testing throughout employment
• Must be flexible with work schedule - we operate 24/7 - 365 days a year

Duties and Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills to interact with customers and can manage their time well while on the road. Some job duties include but are not limited to:

• Respond to accidents, break-downs, and other roadside incidents
• Assist disabled motorists with services such as changing their tires
• Stay in contact with motorists when you are enroute
• Safely load cars onto the back of your truck
• Keep your truck clean and in good condition
• Pre-inspect and post-inspect tow truck
• Tow cars that have a parking or other illegal infractions

Qualifications

• Ability to handle a physical workload (kneeling, crawling, bending, lifting, etc.)
• Able to lift 50 lbs. or more
• Strong physical strength, stamina and endurance
• Good judgment, problem-solving skills and common sense
• Strong work ethic and ability to make good decisions under pressure
• Safety-conscious
• Clean driving record
• Strong communication, customer service, and time management skills
• Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
• Attention to detail when documenting services, vehicle conditions and work performed
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays

Compensation

We offer hourly and incentive pay in a variety of working environments to increase your unlimited earning potential!

• $22.00 - $27.00 to start for hourly work, depending on experience and current certifications; on-call and overtime opportunities
