What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Specialist position at Voigt-Abernathy?
Purchasing Specialist duties and responsibilities:
- Research, select and purchase quality products and materials
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing
- Process requisitions and update management on status of orders
- Assist inventory control team with updating inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
- Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions
- Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required
- Assess the quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management
- Plan and manage the logistics of delivery schedules and inventory levels
- Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures using Profit 21 system.
- Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services and supplies
- Ensure that the products and supplies meet our quality standards
- Maintain and update list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development
Requirements:
- At least 3-5 years’ purchasing experience, preferably in the manufacturing segment.
- Experience managing a purchasing team is a plus.
- Experience with Profit 21 a plus
- Able to provide documentation of the ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Able to pass a background and Drug Screening.
- Work in a professional environment and abide by company policies.
