POSITION DESCRIPTION
ON CALL ADVOCATE
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The On Call Advocate serves as first contact with victim's to provide medical accompaniment and/or law enforcement accompaniment 24 hours. In addition the On-Call Advocate is responsible with providing resources and support to victims and their loved one's.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for providing outreach and direct services to victims of sexual assault and/or sex trafficking;
2. Provides resource referrals to sexual assault and/or sex trafficking survivors needing services outside
VOH scope;
3. OCA is responsible for being available to work on-call for immediate and delayed outcry cases during assigned shifts;
4. OCA is responsible for a response time of 30 minutes from time the call is received. The destination includes but is not limited to hospitals, Lubbock Police Department, Lubbock sheriff's Department to assist victims.
5. OCA is responsible for the immediate crisis counseling with the victim, victim's family and others close to the family.
6. OCA is responsible for the provision of accurate data to the victim and victim's family with regard to medical, legal law enforcement procedures;
7. OCA is responsible for working side by side with the SANE program r ant agency working with the victim;
8. OCA is responsible for transporting evidence to the DPS Crime Lab;
9. OCA is responsible for submitting in-take forms immediately after each case worker'
10. The OCA is responsible for representing the agency in a professional manner while on duty and MUST wear name bade with representing the center
OCE will allow volunteers to accompany them to work the case(s) in an effort to train volunteers for future case management
11. Promotes counseling services when visiting with sexual assault and /or sex trafficking victims;
12. Responsible for submitting reports promptly;
13. Facilitates peer counseling individual/group therapy with at risk and/or sex trafficking victims;
14. Recognize own role in marketing of VOH by developing positive relations with the public in general;
15. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
On Call Advocate reports to, is supervised by and evaluated by the Assistant Director.
EVALUATION
The evaluation of work performance is ongoing and will be performed by the Assistant Director. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior. Formal evaluation will normally be performed annually but may be initiated at others times by the On
Call Advocate, Assistant Director, or the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma, College degree preferred
2. The ability to communicate effectively in person and on the telephone with other staff, volunteers’ victims/clients and the general public.
3. Ability to plan, organize and use time efficiently
STATUS
This is a FLSA Non-Exempt position.
This is not an OSHA high risk position.
SALARY
The salary for this position is negotiated between the individual and the Executive Director.
