Role Description
This is a full-time remote position for a Wetland Delineator/Environmental Consultant to be based in or near to Boyne City, MI. The role involves conducting wetland determinations and boundary delineations, preparing detailed wetland and jurisdiction determination and other environmental assessment reports, assisting clients with obtaining state and federal regulatory permits that are required for a wide variety of wetland, critical dune, high-risk erosion area, and lakes and streams projects, and providing professional consulting services to clients to ensure regulatory compliance. The company also completes surveys for rare, threatened and endangered species surveys and expert witness opinions and testimony. Daily tasks include collecting and analyzing environmental data, preparing detailed reports and permit applications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop tailored environmental solutions.
Qualifications
We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn our clientele and possesses innate business acumen. The ideal candidate is well-spoken and eloquent, with strong moral character and has the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in wetland delineation, wildlife/botanical surveys, and environmental permitting.
- Strong plant taxonomy and identification skills.
- Basic soil science and wetland hydrology proficiency.
- Proficiency in Report Writing with strong attention to detail
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Background in wetland science or certification as a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) is a plus
- Previous consulting experience and familiarity with state and federal permitting processes
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
