What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Vogrinc Search Group?
We are seeking a Quality Technician / Engineer to join a well established manufacturer in Northern IL! This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants hands-on responsibility and the chance to make an immediate impact, or an experienced quality professional who has built the right skills through manufacturing experience. The Quality Engineer will have responsibility for helping improve manufacturing processes, solve quality problems, support production, and implement improvements that directly impact product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do
- Analyze manufacturing and quality processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities
- Develop and maintain work instructions, drawings, and technical documentation
- Support quality inspections and investigate production and customer quality concerns
- Establish quality and acceptance criteria for processes, products, equipment, and materials
- Partner with production and engineering on new products, process improvements, and pilot runs
- Assist with manufacturability studies, cost estimates, and process development
- Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives
- Serve as a technical resource for production and other departments
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred
- 2 years of quality or manufacturing experience preferred
- Experienced quality professionals without a degree are encouraged to apply
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
- Experience with inspection equipment, CMMs, or other quality measurement tools is a plus
- CAD experience is preferred, but training can be provided
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and controlled experiments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working hands-on with manufacturing and production teams
- Knowledge of metal fabrication and basic assembly is a plus
