Position Type

Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and dynamic Speech-Language Pathologist to split their time between providing services in a charter school setting and providing services at an Early Head Start/Head Start facility (one facility minimum). This unique role offers the opportunity to work with diverse age ranges and diagnostic profiles, supported by a collaborative and manageable work environment.
Charter School Contract (K-8)
- Provide comprehensive speech and language services to students across two school locations (approximately 7 minutes apart).
- The primary schedule involves 2 to 2.5 days per week, with a typical workday of 6 to 7 hours (exact times to be discussed).
- Serve students in two settings:
- One location focuses on K-3rd grade students.
- The second location serves 4th-8th grade students.
- Manage a manageable caseload, focusing on effective therapy and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with supportive school staff, teachers, and administrators to ensure integrated student support.
- Conduct developmental assessments, consults and/or screenings to identify children’s needs to determine eligibility according to the Alabama Administrative Code.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on assessment results.
Early Head Start/Head Start Contract (Ages 1-5)
Conduct screenings, comprehensive evaluations, and treatment for children aged 1-5 years.
Travel to various centers within the Birmingham, Alabama area to provide services.
Adhere to service window, as all direct services to these children must be completed between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM due to their daily schedule.
Manage a manageable caseload, focusing on effective therapy and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with supportive school staff, teachers, and administrators to ensure integrated student support.
- Conduct developmental assessments, consults and/or screenings to identify children’s needs to determine eligibility for services.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on assessment results.
- Serve as a resource for parents and center staff regarding child development and communication skills.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred, or strong CFY candidates will be considered.
- Current and active Alabama State SLP license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience working with both school-age and early intervention populations is highly desirable.
- Must possess reliable transportation and be willing to travel between contract locations in the Birmingham area.
- Skilled in effective oral and written communication.
