12H Nights 12 hour nights, EOW, EOH
Nurse:Patient Ratios: Days 1:4-5, NOCs 1:5-6- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Ortho Trauma (fractures, Joint replacements), Vascular (fem-pop bypass, cardid endartectomy, heparin drips, many have wound dressing changes) Urology (TURP, TURBT, Continuous bladder irrigation), Neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion, back pain), OBGYN Oncology ( TAH/OBS), Acute Medical can also be admitted to the department- Experience or 'Must have' skills: 1-2 years acute care nursing experience- Are RN's required to titrate drips: Yes following a prescribed nomogram- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin. Occasionally nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, insulin- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit Are RN's required to read their own strips What brand are the tele monitors: There is telemetry techs who watch the monitors 24/7, no they don t need to read strips
