What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Vlachos Research Group, Purdue University?
The Vlachos Research Group has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate in experimental fluid dynamics and cardiovascular biomechanics. Available projects will focus on interdisciplinary studies of cardiovascular flow and tissue deformation using optical diagnostics and medical imaging.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. Strong candidates will have expertise in experimental fluid mechanics, including optical flow diagnostics, particle image velocimetry, and digital image correlation. Experience with image and signal processing, MATLAB and Python programming, and scientific computing is required. Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools, such as Codex or equivalent platforms, is desirable. Strong communication skills are essential, and a strong record of journal publications is preferred.
The initial appointment will be for one year. Multiyear extensions are available based on performance and funding. Candidates must be eligible to obtain the legal right to work in the United States before the start of the position.
