Quality Control Laboratory Technician- Thermo

Summary/Objective:

The Laboratory Technician will ensure quality control, follow processes, and inspect incoming material for finished goods. Complete testing of material and products by UL, ASTM, etc. specifications. Documenting and archiving tests reports and QC documentation. This person will also be responsible for archiving material and samples for historical purposes.

• Experience with Unsaturated Polyester and Vinylester Thermoset Systems preferred
• Laboratory testing (destructive and non-destructive) raw materials, including but not limited to; DSC, mechanical testing (Flexural/Tensile), Gel Times, Viscosity Checks, thermal and mechanical properties.
• Other chemical and physical property testing
• Understand and work with solvent, water base and UV Cured coating systems
• Understand and work with solvent and water based adhesive systems
• Conducting and managing quality control systems for incoming, in process and finished products
• Maintaining QC and Laboratory testing documentation
• Any other responsibilities set forth from supervisor

Work Environment:

This job operates in a laboratory setting within a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard laboratory and office equipment such as test tubes, beakers, telephones, computers, and printers. Moderate noise (i.e. noise from manufacturing equipment). This position will require PPE at times, provided by the company to ensure safety. This list is not all inclusive.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers. This is a hands-on position located in a production environment. The employee may frequently be required to walk, use hand power tools, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Thursday, typically between 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Travel:

Less than 10%

Required Education and Experience:

• Technical Training or degree with minimum 5 years’ experience
• CTT Certification (Composites Technician Training via ACMA)
• Working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, other common professional and engineering software, and Explorer

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Associate’s degree or higher in a relative/related field or equivalent proven experience.
• Experience with Fiberglass reinforcements and associated processing methods.
• Hands on experience with laboratory testing.
• Knowledge of laboratory and product testing using standard industry test equipment.
• Knowledge of fiberglass and unsaturated polyester and vinylester resin systems.
