Job Title: Controller
Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Controller to manage all aspects of our accounting and financial operations. As a key member of our small team, you’ll oversee daily accounting functions, produce accurate financial statements, manage cash flow, and provide insights that support company growth. This role combines strategic financial leadership with day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
- Handle journal entries, accruals, and month-end closings.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Analyze financial performance and report key metrics to leadership.
- Provide actionable recommendations to support business decisions.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, payroll requirements, and local/state/federal laws.
- Coordinate with external accountants or auditors for tax filings and annual reviews.
- Maintain internal controls and accurate financial documentation.
Strategic & Operational Support
- Partner with leadership on financial planning and strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate vendor contracts, pricing, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support HR functions related to payroll, benefits, and expense reimbursements (if applicable).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience: 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience; prior experience in a small business environment highly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and wear multiple hats.
