Essential Job Functions
The responsibilities of the Receptionist include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform all duties and responsibilities with a positive attitude.
- Handle incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner and directs themaccordingly.
- Greet guests and visitors in a professional and courteous manner and directs them accordingly.
- File correspondence.
- Sort mail.
- Assure the menus are properly posted.
- Assure the bulletin boards do not contain out-dated materials.
- Type correspondence as needed.
- Coordinate front desk activities.
- Maintain the front desk in a neat and orderly manner.
- Respond to emergency situations by contacting appropriate party; 911, fire department, police, etc.
- Attend required in-service training sessions and orientations.
- Respond to resident’s needs.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have knowledge of basic telephone reception systemsand techniques. The ability to handle all incoming telephone calls and visitors in a pleasant andcourteous manner, provide clerical support and represent the residence in a professionalmanner. The ability to respond calmly to emergency situations is essential. The ability tocommunicate in English both orally and in writing is essential. May require some lifting,bending, stretching and stooping.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Experience: Requires six months to one-year prior reception experience in an officeenvironment. Typing or word processing experience is preferred.
- Certificates/ Licenses: None required.
