A Cafe Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a cafe, including managing staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining business health. This involves handling inventory, finances, marketing, and ensuring high standards for cleanliness, quality, and health/safety compliance. Cafe Managers are also responsible for developing menus, managing supply chains, and resolving customer complaints.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operations: Opening and closing the cafe, managing daily shifts, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth service.
* Staff Management: Recruiting, training, scheduling, motivating, and managing the performance of baristas and servers.
* Customer Service: Handling customer complaints professionally, building customer relationships, and ensuring positive experiences.
* Inventory & Supplies: Ordering stock, managing inventory, controlling costs, and coordinating with suppliers.
* Financials: Managing budgets, tracking expenses and revenue, handling cash and POS systems, and reporting on profit margins.
* Marketing & Menu: Developing promotions, planning menus, and ensuring quality standards for food and drinks.
* Compliance: Enforcing health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
* Leadership, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
* Experience in the food, beverage, or hospitality industry.
* Knowledge of POS systems, inventory control, and budgeting.
* Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and local laws.
* Barista skills and knowledge of coffee and beverages.
Typical Duties:
* Creating staff schedules and managing cash drawers and till reconciliation.
