Job Description and Performance Standards
Title: HEMS DISPATCHER - 441003004
Department: HAMILTON EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
Reports To: Administrative Coordinator, Supervisors (Captains) and Director
JOB SUMMARY
The Dispatcher works under minimal supervision and follows standard procedures and/or written instructions to perform the job duties. Responsible for scheduling and dispatching all non-emergency calls; maintains all daily check off reports and equipment tracking. Works closely with Supervisor in relation to fleet and equipment readiness and maintain related data bases. Will routinely assist the billing office with day-to-day operations. Other job duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of a high school diploma. EMT preferred.
Licensure : None. If EMT must hold a Georgia State EMT License.
Experience: On the job training provided. Previous experience in similar work related environment preferred. Clerical, communication and organizational skills essential. Job specific competencies and training provided during orientation process.
Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other computer programs and applications as used by HEMS for efficient operations. Must be able to use multi- channel and multi-band radios and related communications equipment, including multiline phone system. Requires high speed proficiency and accuracy in high stress situations.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to work efficiently and independently in order to best utilize resources. Majority of work is performed in an isolated dispatch/business office environment with frequent interruptions under high stress. Requires repetitive motion (clerical) and prolonged sitting on routine basis. Frequently required to work overtime on short notice to provide adequate coverage of staffing. Must be able to work in a very stress related environment and manage dynamic personalities. Must be able to regulate breaks to coordinate with work environment.
