What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe position at VitreoRetinal Consultants?
VitreoRetinal Consultants is seeking energetic individuals to fulfill the role of Ophthalmic/Medical Technician/Scribe. A college degree and 1-2 years of experience in Optometry/Ophthalmology and/or scribing are required. Separately, on-the-job training can be considered for a highly motivated entry-level candidate with non-ophthalmic/optometric previous patient experience. Direct involvement with patient care is a key part of the job. Some of the duties of the position include: Obtaining and review of ocular and medical history, collecting and entering data into the patient’s electronic medical record, performing clinical testing, diagnostic imaging, documenting/scribing physician findings, assisting the physician during examinations and procedures, and patient counselling, with relevant computer and scheduling/insurance confirmation responsibilities.
Candidates must demonstrate high proficiency with computers, strong professional interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for the field of healthcare, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience.
