About VitaSignal
VitaSignal is an early-stage clinical AI company building documentation-derived intelligence systems for healthcare. Our technology transforms routine EHR behavior into actionable signal for clinical decision support, workforce optimization, and health equity. We have validated research, filed intellectual property, and secured vendor access to major EHR platforms. Now we need a technical co-founder to build the product.
The Role
Lead architecture, EHR integration, and cloud deployment. Build the engineering foundation from validated research to production clinical AI. This is a 0-to-1 build. You will be the first technical hire and the person who turns science into software.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and build a FHIR-integrated clinical AI pipeline (Epic Oracle Health)
- Deploy HIPAA-compliant cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP)
- Lead technical due diligence for seed fundraise ($3M to $5M target)
- Own the product roadmap from research prototype to FDA-ready platform
- Hire and lead a 3 to 5 person engineering team post-funding
What We Are Looking For
- Experience deploying ML systems in healthcare or regulated environments
- FHIR/HL7 integration knowledge or willingness to learn rapidly
- Comfort with ambiguity. This is a 0-to-1 build, not a scale role
- Alignment with health equity mission
Nice to Have
- Prior startup CTO or founding engineer experience
- FDA SaMD or 510(k) regulatory experience
- Experience with MIMIC-IV, eICU, or HiRID clinical databases
Compensation
- Equity: 15% to 25%, vesting over 4 years with 1-year cliff
- Salary is deferred until seed funding is secured
- Accelerated vesting: if seed round closes within 12 months, 6 additional months of equity vesting accelerates immediately, rewarding early commitment and pre-funding risk
- Post-funding salary: competitive with market rate for health tech CTO
- This is a co-founder opportunity with meaningful equity in a patent-protected clinical AI company
