Reports To: Quality Control Assistant Manager

Salary: Starting in the 80k - 95k range

LIMS Specialist Position Purpose and Objectives

Oversee and manage the daily operations of the QC Lab’s LIMS system. To optimize LIMS functions for the QC Lab, working with Waters Engineers programmers and systems analysts to develop all needed custom programs for the laboratory.

LIMS Specialist Essential Job Functions

• Must follow all GMP’s and SOP’s relevant to the position.
• Oversees the operation of the LIMS system in the laboratory and all computer applications that interface and interact with the LIMS system.
• Assures that the LIMS system is correctly used by the laboratory personnel.
• Works and coordinates with Waters Engineers as they perform programming in LIMS in response to the requirements of the lab and QC program.
• Develops, modifies and maintains forms and interfaces for data entry into LIMS.
• Coordinates and implement scope of work for major upgrades to LIMS with Waters Engineers.
• Tracks all LIMS projects to ensure project timeliness and completion.
• Ensures that staffs follow all QA/QC procedures with regard to data analysis, data evaluation, data transfer, and LIMS operations.
• Provides training to new and current employees as needed.
• Stays current on advances in the data processing field, LIMS enhancements, and laboratory procedures.
• Uses written communication to express ideas and programming needs to IT staff and other division personnel.

LIMS Specialist Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Advanced knowledge of Chemical laboratory analysis and associated data evaluation.
• Working knowledge of LIMS systems in laboratory settings.
• Advance knowledge of other PC and standard software to include spreadsheets, word processing and database programs.
• Ability to write SOP’s for laboratory computer and LIMS applications.
• Advanced skill in development of forms and instrument/LIMS interfaces for data entry into LIMS.
• Knowledge of retrieving data from other databases and reviewing data for correctness.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with professional, technical and computer staff.
• Demonstrates a high level of responsibility and a proactive attitude towards their daily job assignments.

LIMS Specialist Supervisory Responsibility

• None.

Working Conditions

• Strong interaction with Lab Supervisors, analysts, and IT personnel.

LIMS Specialist Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course in Chemistry or Biology and two (2) year experience in laboratory operations, LIMS administration or equivalent related training and experience.
