About the Position
The Extrusion Technician will be responsible for all aspects of over the air and over the core extrusion equipment. The technician will ensure all products are produced continuously to meet quality and delivery goals. Must be able to work independently and have the ability to troubleshoot machines while multi-tasking multiple machines and provide support to team to meet daily targets. As the Extrusion Technician, you will be expected to solve technical problems in both a hands-on manner and team setting.
Work Location/Schedule
- This position requires the employee to be onsite at our VitalPath Maplewood, MN location .
- Shift/Schedule: Second Shift – Monday – Thursday 2:00pm-1:00AM (4x10 hour days)
- VitalPath does not offer relocation assistance for this position.
Responsibilities
- Responsible to independently start machines and set controls to specified temperature, speed and adjust controls as necessary.
- Perform tear-down, setting up, selecting dyes and parts according to specifications, and performing basic maintenance on the extrusion machine(s).
- Responsible for operating the extrusion machines, including laser mic and ultra-sonics with full set-up, tear down.
- Ability to extrude complex parts including co-extrusions, tri-layer, multi-lumen and second pass over braid.
- Perform in-process inspection, package extrusions and label.
- Perform mandrel reflow extrusion test.
- Measure and examine extruded products for 100% quality. Adjust equipment as needed to eliminate defects to meet specifications.
- Ability to assist running R&D / prototype extrusion runs.
- Collect and provide extrusion data to ERP, Engineer(s) and production management.
- Frequent troubleshooting of equipment, tools and processes.
- Work cross functionally with other departments to achieve continuous improvement goals/metrics.
- Train extrusion operators and track their performance.
- Support/lead inline improvements and enhancements through engineering drawings demonstrating solutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED plus related certification/training
- 5 years extrusion work experience
- Willing to work in a team environment and promote teamwork among others
- Excellent knowledge of workorder and manufacturing process/procedures
- Proficient Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills
- Working knowledge of ISO 13485 and cGMP
- Experience working with polymers-particularly Pebax, Nylon, PEEK, Urethanes
- General math skills with metric conversions
- Understand basic blueprints/specifications
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on a periodic basis
- Required to stand for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
- Post High School education in related field
- Additional extrusion or plastic injection molding classroom training or equivalent experience
- Experience with vacuum extrusions
- 2-3 years of medical device experience in a clean room environment
Compensation Package
- The hourly range for this position is $26.65 - $30.19 . The posted hourly range complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as market conditions, level of experience and training, education, certifications, as well as internal and external equity.
- This position is eligible to earn an annual performance bonus based on meeting VitalPath’s bonus performance plan.
