Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Qualified Mental Health Professional role located in Kenosha, WI. The QMHMP provides direct behavioral health services to individuals in a correctional facility, including mental health assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing individual or group counseling. Daily responsibilities include monitoring mental health status, responding to crisis situations, coordinating care with medical and custody staff, and documenting services in accordance with clinical and legal standards. The role also involves participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to discharge planning, and promoting a therapeutic environment that supports positive behavioral change.
Qualifications
- Clinical mental health skills, including assessment, diagnosis within scope, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention.
- Crisis intervention and risk management abilities, including suicide risk assessment, de-escalation techniques, and safety planning.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills, including accurate charting, confidential record keeping, and time management.
- Communication and collaboration skills, including active listening, professional verbal and written communication, and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff.
- Knowledge of correctional healthcare practices, ethical standards, and applicable regulations or best practices in behavioral health.
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field; appropriate state licensure or eligibility preferred.
- Experience providing mental health services in correctional, community mental health, hospital, or similar settings is beneficial.
- Ability to work respectfully with diverse populations and maintain professional boundaries in a secure environment.
