About the Program:
Vital Strategies offers students the opportunity to contribute to real time projects that advance health equity and build strong public health systems. Throughout the summer, you will meet with organizational leadership, participate in professional development sessions and strengthen critical, technical and operational skills through engaging, meaningful work assignments.
The Opportunity:
The Office of the President is looking for a motivated, highly organized, resourceful, and collaborative graduate student to join the team this summer and experience the many cross-divisional functions within the executive office of a global public health nonprofit.
Working closely with the President and CEO as well as the Office of the President team (located in New York and Paris), the Summer Associate will be based in New York and support a variety of projects including knowledge management, event preparation, desk research for strategic partnerships, institutional relationship mapping, and supporting the development of organization-wide impact metrics and reporting. This role will involve interacting with colleagues both in-person and remotely across Vital Strategies’ global offices and program teams and will require a high level of autonomy, flexibility, and creativity.
Duration: June - August, 2026 (10-12 weeks); minimum commitment of 3 days per week.
Location: New York City/Tri-State Area – Hybrid work schedule (at least 2 days in office per week)
Compensation: We offer a rate of $25 per hour for a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Qualifications:
Education and Work Experience -
Graduate student pursuing a Masters in global public health, nonprofit management, healthcare management, international development, global public policy, international affairs, or related field(s)
Skills and Knowledge -
Excellent organizational skills and ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in an international team environment and with solid interpersonal and communication skills;
Strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity to learn and understand complex concepts and processes;
Understanding of epidemiological methods and study design, as well as solid research, data and statistical skills;
Familiarity with impact measurement / M&E best practices and experience developing dashboards and visualizations would be a plus, as would expertise in qualitative research (in-depth interviews / comparative institutional analyses).
