Position: Paramedic (EMT-P) – Chattanooga, TN
What You’ll Do
As a Vital Paramedic, you will deliver advanced emergency and non-emergency care, including:
- Responding to emergency and interfacility calls
- Performing ALS assessments and interventions
- Administering medications per Standing Orders
- Reading and interpreting EKGs
- Operating advanced EMS equipment
- Providing patient care throughout transport
- Lifting, transferring, and moving patients safely
- Completing accurate Patient Care Reports
- Cleaning, restocking, and maintaining equipment
- Safely operating an ambulance
Requirements
Skills, Education & Required Qualifications
- 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Tennessee Paramedic License
- Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record
- Strong BLS-level proficiency
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Current CPR Certification
- ACLS
- PHTLS
- ITLS
- National Registry Paramedic (NREMT-P)
- Post-offer physical exam
- Drug screening
- Marijuana remains illegal in Tennessee; a positive result voids the offer
- Criminal background check
- Potential annual TB and rubella screening
- Compliance with the Vital Medical Transport Compliance Program
- Maintenance of all certifications and licenses
Paramedics must be able to work in:
- Extreme temperatures and variable outdoor environments
- High-stress, high-noise, and fast-changing conditions
- Environments involving fumes, odors, and hazardous materials
- Situations with blood and blood-borne pathogens
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling 100 lbs
- Repeated standing, bending, kneeling, and walking
- Rapid, calm decision-making under pressure
