Vital Health provides integrated primary care, behavioral health, and substance use treatment for adults and children across Northwest Ohio. We are expanding our services into local schools and are seeking a licensed clinician to provide mental health support to youth in a school-based setting.
This role allows clinicians to work directly with students during the school day, helping increase access to care and supporting emotional and behavioral success in the classroom.
Position Overview
The School-Based Clinician will provide mental health and substance use services to children and adolescents within partnered school settings. Services are delivered on-site at schools rather than in a traditional office environment, with a focus on early intervention, accessibility, and collaboration with school staff and families.
Responsibilities
- Complete diagnostic assessments and admissions for youth
- Diagnose mental health and substance use disorders within scope
- Develop, implement, and review individualized treatment plans
- Provide individual and group counseling in a school-based setting
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to support student success
- Support case management and coordinate community referrals as needed
- Maintain appropriate boundaries within a school and community environment
- De-escalate behavioral and emotional concerns in real time
- Complete timely and compliant documentation in the EHR
Requirements
- Active Ohio LSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC (required)
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
- Experience working with children or adolescents preferred
- Experience in mental health and/or substance use treatment
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and behavioral health best practices
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, patient rights, and ethics
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary and school-based team
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time, primarily school-based (on-site in partner schools)
- Schedule aligned with school hours, with potential for some after-school programming
- Occasional meetings, trainings, or community-based responsibilities
