Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) ensuring optimal provider availability.
- Verify insurance coverage, including Medicare and Medicaid, and perform insurance verification to streamline billing processes.
- Review and update patient medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to manage care plans, follow-up appointments, and treatment schedules efficiently.
- Handle incoming calls with professional phone etiquette, providing excellent customer service and addressing patient inquiries promptly.
- Maintain accurate filing of medical records and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with health information management standards.
- Support front desk operations by managing multi-line phone systems, scheduling software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and performing clerical tasks such as data entry and filing.
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is highly preferred, especially in medical scheduling or administrative support roles.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems s is essential.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing practices is required.
- Experience with insurance verification processes for Medicare or private insurance carriers is advantageous.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (including 10-key), and familiarity with health information management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Exceptional organizational skills combined with attention to detail to ensure accurate appointment scheduling and record keeping.
