We are looking to hire a full-time Certified Pharmacy Technician to grow with our expanding pharmacy business. We are an independently owned Home Infusion Pharmacy in El Paso, Texas. This position is ideal for an experienced sterile compounding technician seeking to expand their skills in a growing home infusion environment. Job Summary

The primary focus of this position is the preparation of compounded sterile preparations for home infusion patients in compliance with USP <797>, state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will work closely with the pharmacist to accurately prepare sterile medications, maintain cleanroom operations, complete compounding documentation, and support quality assurance activities.In addition to sterile compounding responsibilities, technicians will assist with pharmacy operations including patient intake, prescription data entry, patient chart preparation, inventory management, assembling patient supplies and equipment, and communication with referral sources and healthcare providers. Daily responsibilities may vary based on pharmacy workflow and patient care needs.In this position, you will report directly to the Pharmacy Manager for daily duties and training.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
  • Sterile Compounding Certification (40-Hour ACPE Accredited Program)
  • Fluent in Spanish

Preferred:

  • One (1) or more years of sterile compounding experience in a hospital pharmacy, home infusion pharmacy, outpatient infusion center, or similar healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated experience preparing compounded sterile preparations in compliance with USP <797>
  • Home infusion pharmacy experience
  • Active New Mexico Pharmacy Technician registration

Additional Requirement:

  • Upon hire, employees who are not currently licensed in New Mexico will be expected to obtain a Pharmacy Technician license through the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy. This position may require training and occasional shift coverage at our Las Cruces, New Mexico location, Vital Care of Las Cruces.

Physical Requirements

May require lifting over 40 lbs. (e.g., lifting cases of enteral formula and infusion solutions), standing for extended periods while preparing sterile medications, frequent use of a computer keyboard for data entry and documentation, use of gloves and other personal protective equipment, and moderate to high amounts of driving for patient deliveries and other pharmacy-related activities.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

Sterile CompoundingThe primary responsibility of this position is the preparation of compounded sterile preparations for home infusion patients in accordance with USP <797>, applicable state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures.Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately and safely preparing compounded sterile medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Maintaining knowledge of USP <797> standards to ensure the quality, sterility, and stability of compounded sterile preparations.
  • Performing proper hand hygiene, garbing, and aseptic technique when working in controlled environments.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of laminar airflow work practices and cleanroom procedures.
  • Completing compounding records, batch preparation records, labels, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Assisting with environmental cleaning, maintenance, and monitoring of sterile compounding areas.
  • Maintaining compliance with pharmacy policies, quality assurance programs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participating in ongoing competency assessments, continuing education, and training related to sterile compounding and pharmacy operations.
  • Promptly communicating any concerns related to medication preparation, sterility, equipment, or quality to the supervising pharmacist.

Additional Responsibilities

In addition to sterile compounding duties, technicians will support other essential pharmacy operations, including:

  • Assisting with new patient intake and onboarding activities.
  • Completing patient charts, intake forms, and required documentation.
  • Performing prescription data entry, label generation, and prescription processing under pharmacist supervision.
  • Communicating with referral sources, physician offices, hospitals, nursing agencies, and patients by phone, email, and fax.
  • Assembling medications, supplies, and equipment for patient dispensing and delivery.
  • Assisting with inventory management, stock rotation, and supply organization.
  • Maintaining pharmacy work areas and supporting general pharmacy operations.
  • Completing assigned paperwork and patient-care documentation in a timely manner.
  • Supporting intake, customer service, and business development initiatives as needed.
