Function: Lead Transportation and Distribution operations with a continual improvement mindset in profitability, customer satisfaction, safety, employee engagement, and efficiencies.
Position requirements:
- Demonstrated expertise in managing and improving financial performance in transportation and distribution assets
- Substantiated process improvement initiatives within transportation, warehousing, inventory management, safety, customer service, and invested capital that increased profitability and customer retention while strengthening culture
- In depth knowledge of supply chain operations
- Proficient at optimizing product movement and customer ship points to reduce operating and transportation costs while reducing inventory levels
- Experience managing and leading teams across multiple shifts and locations
- Maintain confidentiality of all information
- Proficiency with software as required
- Must have valid driver’s license with appropriate vehicle insurance
Essential duties:
- Manage company fleet operations and distribution functions including transportation, warehousing through distributions centers, and customer service.
- Annual budgeting, forecasts and capital project planning
- Lead all safety initiatives: training, inspections and accident investigations
- Ensure DOT compliance and fuel tax reporting expectations are met
- Maximize utilization of technologies (currently includes ELD, Cameras, GPS) to best serve customers and create efficiencies
- Oversee all maintenance, housekeeping and equipment upgrades
- Coach employees to improve through timely feedback and formal evaluations
Working conditions:
- Office/warehousing facility environment: desk and computer work, uneven/slippery work surfaces, truck lot conditions
- On farm visits with varying conditions
Evaluation:
- Safety: training program, injuries, lost time, near misses
- Profitability to VP Holdings vs. budget
- Performance vs. goals for safety, DOT compliance, reduction in working capital, inventory management, and delivery efficiencies
- Contributing to our strong culture: employee engagement and development while being a positive role model within the communities we serve
