Position Title: Student Success Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, flexible schedule; hybrid position requiring regular in- person presence at Vita office locations and class sites throughout Bucks County, with some remote work flexibility
Salary Range: $47,000.00 annually

Vita Education Services is Bucks County’s lead adult education agency, offering free English Language Learning, GED Preparation, Basic Skills, Family Literacy, and corrections system education programs. Vita's adult education programs enable low-literacy, low-income families to escape poverty, qualify for better jobs, enter job training or college, and earn family-sustaining incomes. Foreign-born students are empowered to become more connected to their children's education, their employers, and their communities. Vita's corrections system education programs serve incarcerated and returning citizens by providing GED preparation, cognitive behavioral skills, and job preparation classes. Vita maintains office spaces in Doylestown and Bristol and offers classes in locations throughout Central and Lower Bucks County.
Summary of job:
The Student Success Coordinator (SSC) serves as a key point of contact for students across Vita’s Adult Basic Education (ABE), English Language Learning (ELL), and Family Literacy programs. This role integrates two essential functions: helping students identify and overcome barriers to participation, and supporting students in exploring and pursuing career, workforce, and postsecondary education opportunities. The SSC works closely with program directors, coordinators, instructional staff, and community partners to ensure students are engaged, supported, and moving toward their goals.
Responsibilities:
Student Support & Barrier Removal
· Participate in student registration, orientation, and placement testing across ABE, ELL, and Family Literacy programs. Participate in progress and year-end testing.
· Research and develop instructional presentations on barrier support and goal setting; schedule and deliver in ABE, ELL, and Family Literacy classes.
· Screen students for barriers to participation, including transportation, childcare, housing instability, and employment, and connect them with appropriate community resources and partner organizations.
· Conduct regular individual check-ins with students to monitor engagement, identify emerging challenges, and provide referrals as needed.
· Follow up with students who have stopped attending classes to understand barriers and facilitate re-engagement.
· Collaborate with directors, coordinators, and instructors to identify students who may benefit from additional support or intervention.
· Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and agencies to build a robust referral network.
· Represent and promote Vita at community events.
Career Pathways & Transitions
· Research and develop instructional presentations on career awareness, career pathways, continuing education opportunities, etc.; schedule and deliver in ABE, ELL, and Family Literacy classes.
· Maintain relationships with workforce development agencies, postsecondary institutions, and career training providers; schedule partner presentations for students; connect students with relevant opportunities.
· Collaborate with directors, coordinators, and instructors to identify students ready for career exploration or transitional services; meet with students to develop next steps.
· Help students create individualized education and career plans outlining concrete steps toward their goals, share transitional plans with staff and maintain communication to align services across the organization.
· Monitor and support students as they follow their transitional plans, ensuring a smooth entry into the workforce or postsecondary placements; maintain detailed case notes.
· Research potential employers and job opportunities aligned with students' skills, goals, and availability; share leads with students who are actively seeking employment.
· Stay informed about local workforce development board activities, workforce development plans, and labor market trends, apply that knowledge to guide students toward viable career pathways.
Other
· Attend Staff and Coordinator/Attendance Meetings, work with staff to ensure student engagement and success.
· Comply with Vita’s policies and procedures as specified in the Vita Employment Policy Manual.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Maturity and sensitivity in working with students from diverse backgrounds and individuals facing barriers.
· Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
· Ability to plan and deliver clear, visually engaging presentations to audiences with varying levels of literacy and English language skills.
· Familiarity with community resources and social service systems in Bucks County and surrounding areas (preferred).
· Competence in using technology for in-person and remote work, including the Internet, projectors, Google Workspace, Zoom, and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and maintain accurate documentation of activities.
· Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between Vita’s office and class locations throughout Central and Lower Bucks County.
· Ability to lift and move materials to presentation and meeting sites.
· PA child abuse, criminal, and FBI clearances required. All clearances must be within one year of hire date.
