Job Summary:
We are looking to add qualified Audio Visual Specialists (AV Specialist) to our roster for the load in and load out of general sessions and breakout rooms in the Sacramento, CA Area. The AV Specialist will take direction from on-site leads (Technical Director, Production Manger, A1, L1, LED Engineer, Etc.), exhibit a strong understanding of the AV systems put in place for General Sessions and Breakout rooms, present and conduct themselves in a professional manner, and have experience working in Hotel and Convention Center environments.
Key Job Functions:
Load in:
- Unload different kinds of vehicles in different vehicles (16’, 24’, or 53’ trucks or cargo vans) from different vendors at venue loading docks
- Lift heavy equipment
- Push/carry equipment and road cases from the unload area to different parts of venues
- Use and ride in freight elevators
Load In/Set Up:
- Running cable (power, XLR, HD-SDI, DMX, etc.)
- Build LED Video Walls
- Build projector screens
- Set up pipe and drape
- Hang lighting fixtures and building lighting truss
- Set up speakers on speaker stands
- Tape down cables
- Take direction and assist on-site leads (Technical Director, Production Manager, A1, L1, LED Engineer, Etc.)
Strike / Tear Down:
- Remove and coil cable (power, XLR, HD-SDI, DMX, etc.)
- Disassemble LED video walls
- Disassemble projector screens
- Take down pipe and drape Strike lighting fixtures and deconstruct lighting truss
- Remove speakers from stands and pack for transport
- Remove and collect all taped cable
- Sort and place equipment back in the correct vendors road cases Follow direction from on-site leads (Technical Director, Production Manager, A1, L1, LED Engineer, etc.) to ensure efficient and safe load-out
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate should have prior experience working in a hotel or convention center environment. The candidate knows that the presentation and behavior of crew members in a corporate environment differs from working in the concert/festival production environment.
Candidates that will regularly receive work from Visual i will exhibit the following:
- Strong Understanding of AV Systems
- Take direction well
- Conduct and present themselves in a professional manner
- Exhibit great Customer Service (This Role is NOT client facing but the candidate should be able to hold a professional conversation with an event stakeholder)
Qualifications
- Experience with Audio Visual Support and AV Systems
- Know different parts of AV Systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills for technical issues
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Be a team player
- Take direction well
- Relevant certifications in AV technology or related fields are a plus
- Work experience as an AV Technician or Lead for Corporate Events
- Experience working in Hotel and Convention Center environments
Terms:
Full Day Call: 10 hours (not including 1 hr walk away meal) or if food is provided, 9 ½ hours of work plus a 30-minute lunch on-site.
Half Day Call: 5 Hour call (no lunch)
Overtime is billed between the 10th and 12th hours worked at your hourly rate multiplied
by 1.5x
Overtime is billed between the 12th and 14th hours worked at your hourly rate multiplied
by 2.0x
Pay terms: Net-30
