Mission of the Role:
The Senior Eng II will design, validate, and troubleshoot advanced automotive electronics for cockpit systems and electrified vehicle platforms. This role involves hands-on board-level testing, customer interaction, and collaboration with global experts to develop next-generation technologies for clusters, displays, infotainment systems, radios, cockpit domain controllers, high-performance compute modules, and battery management systems
Key Objectives of this Role:
- Self-sufficiently investigate and resolve complex customer warranty returns, including root cause analysis on PCBAs.
- Own simulations and analysis for portions of the electronics design, with ability to discuss and defend results with Visteon’s Technical Fellows
- Engage in design reviews with the willingness to lead, ensuring design quality and functional safety to prevent critical and minor issues
- Perform board-level physical testing, instrumentation, and measurements using lab equipment, draw conclusions from this data, and offer appropriate solutions possibilities to resolve issues
- Lead customer debug sessions at vehicle or bench level for critical quality issues; travel to customer sites as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design integrity and compliance with automotive standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, offering solutions for systemic issues, with an ability to drive them to closure
- Develop expertise in specialized areas such as SerDes, microcontrollers, power supplies, RF design, analog circuits, or EMC to grow into a leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5-7 years of experience in automotive electronics development.
- Strong understanding of electronics design fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, signal generators).
- Ability to instrument and measure physical boards accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for PCBA-level investigations.
- Strong communication skills for customer interactions and team collaboration.
- Willingness to travel for on-site debugging and support.
- Experience with simulation tools and worst-case circuit analysis.
- Knowledge of Design for Functional Safety (ISO 26262).
- Familiarity with automotive standards and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, stepping outside defined roles when necessary.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence.
