POSITION OVERVIEW

The Clinician I – MCOT provides direct clinical services to children/youth/adults dispatched to Vista by Department of Mental Health (DMH) for in person crisis response services. Services are provided in a strength-based non-judgmental manner that allows for immediate safety and resolution of a crisis. Emphasis is placed on providing whatever is needed to restore client to baseline functioning as soon as possible. MCOT Program Manager/Clinical Supervisor.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  1. Provides crisis intervention and linkage services to clients referred to the Vista Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) program, ensuring timely response and stabilization in accordance with DMH and agency guidelines.
  2. Conducts in-person, field-based crisis assessments to evaluate risk, develop safety plans, and provide immediate crisis stabilization and de-escalation for children, adolescents, and adults. Assessments may occur independently (e.g., emergency room) or collaboratively (e.g., community or home settings).
  3. Collaborates with DMH, law enforcement, and community agencies to stabilize mental health crises and implement safety and stabilization plans for each client referred.
  4. Maintains contact and communication with families, caregivers, and community partners to share critical information, coordinate care, and support stabilization, discharge planning, and continuity of services.
  5. Evaluates crisis resolution and de-escalation efforts, formulates differential diagnoses, consolidates diagnostic information into a dynamic formulation, and provides appropriate treatment recommendations.
  6. Completes all required clinical documentation (e.g., assessments, service plans, progress notes, internal logs and surveys) accurately and within DMH and agency timelines, adhering to program, agency, and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
  7. Maintains the established MCOT schedule, ensuring consistent in-person response, community-based follow-up, and completion of required linkage and documentation activities.
  8. Keeps the Clinical Supervisor informed of overall case progress, complex clinical issues, problem situations, and discharge planning needs related to client care or community collaboration.
  9. Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with clients, demonstrating trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally responsive care.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO VDM?

  1. Master’s degree in a Behavioral Sciences field or a BA in a related field.
  2. Registered by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or Board of Psychology (BOP).
  3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the field of mental health or crisis services.
  4. Experience and knowledge of child and adolescent development and trauma-informed care.
  5. Crisis management experience.
  6. Must be self-directed, efficient, demonstrate good time-management skills, and be results-oriented.
  7. Must function independently and as a productive member of a service team
  8. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Salary Range: $80,000 - $84,000
