Responsibilities
- Perform detailed eye examinations, including refraction and binocular vision assessments
- Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems to document patient histories, examination findings, and treatment plans
- Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and proper use of corrective lenses
- Prescribe glasses, contact lenses, and medications as appropriate
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for complex cases
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in ophthalmology and optometry practices
- Assist in managing medical records and ensuring accurate documentation of vital signs and medical history
- Provide exceptional patient care with a focus on customer service and satisfaction
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Experience with optical equipment and contact lens fitting
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical coding practices
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment using aseptic techniques
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Customer service-oriented mindset with sales experience beneficial for product recommendations
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and continuous learning in the field of eye care
