Job Summary
The purpose of a Health/Attendance Technician is to provide support to school site operations with specific responsibilities to provide health care, administer routine first aid and medications, and assess ill or injured students to assure a safe and healthy environment in accordance with established guidelines and procedures; ensure accurate attendance accounting for an assigned school site; resolve attendance related issues; ensure compliance with state reporting and established documentation requirements; establish and maintain records; respond to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources. This job reports to a Principal or assigned administrator.

Under the direction of the Principal, perform a variety of responsible clerical duties related to the preparation, balancing and verification of accurate attendance, registration records and reports, data processing list generation and general secretarial and clerical functions; provide health care, administer routine First Aid and assess ill or injured students to assure a safe and healthy environment in accordance with school and District guidelines and established procedures; provide sensitive, patient and accurate care and assistance to students; notify appropriate medical professional as required; maintain health records, referrals and related reports. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to graduation from High School supplemented by coursework in computer record management, general office practices and two (2) years of general clerical experience involving contact with children, including some experience operating computer equipment and administering routine health care. A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency. Catheterization, and blood borne pathogen training may be required. OPEN TESTING - Open to employees of the District and the public with the selection process resulting in one (1) Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year or until the list becomes exhausted. Current permanent employees of the District will be awarded seniority points as per the contract.
You must submit a valid First Aid and CPR certificate issued by an authorized agency. No online certificates will be accepted. (Catheterization and bloodborne pathogen training may be required.) WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to exposure to communicable or infectious diseases and emergency medical situations. BILINGUAL SPANISH DESIRED: Read, speak and write in the Spanish language.
